Things that only happen to us when we turn 30
1 – You sweat less
Sweat bothers many people who hate to sweat. The women start to sweat differently with age. That’s because the sweat glands, especially those in the armpits, decrease with age. As a result, they produce less sweating.
2 – Cools less often
Getting a cold is something we all hate. Fortunately, as we get older, we get less cold. That’s because during childhood and youth, we go through it a lot, so our immune response becomes more and more effective.
3 – The brain gets smaller
As the years go by, our brain shrinks. We lose about 50,000 neurons a day after the age of 30, but our brain knows how to adapt to it. Its volume decreases with age at a rate of 5% per decade after age 40 and this affects directly on memory.
4 – You have less muscle mass
Another thing that decreases with age is muscle mass, which decreases 3-8% per decade after 30 years. That rate increases even more after the age of 60.
5 – The palate weakens
With age, your taste buds may decline and it is common to be less interested in eating for this reason. Most people lose some of their taste buds, especially after the age of 60.
6 – Nails take longer to grow
Several researches show that, when young, our nails grow quickly. Dr. William Bean who noticed this. According to him, the left nail grew at a rate of 0.123 mm per day. After the age of 67, this dropped to 0.095 mm per day. This can happen because of slower blood circulation.
7 – Teeth are less sensitive and stronger
Our teeth also change with age. They get stronger and this is because the dentin, which is the hard internal tissue, gets harder with age. This further decreases the sensitivity.
